Dance classes in Calhoun: ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop and musical theatre

At DW Calhoun, ballet is taught in combination classes, paired with tap, jazz, hip hop or baton, from age 3. Hip hop runs from age 3 through high school, lyrical from age 8 and musical theatre from age 6. All classes take part in the end of year recital, and costumes are an extra cost.

Shoes and costumes

All policies for new students

  • Dance classes require specific shoes (color and style set per class), brought to every class. Shoes are not included in tuition.

    Studio rule 10
  • Recital costumes are an extra fee, not included in tuition, and are required for the end of year recital. There is one costume per style (a ballet and tap combo class needs two). Tumble classes wear a recital t-shirt and bow. Costume fees are split into 2 payments, and smaller increments are allowed.

Parents ask

Does DW Calhoun offer ballet on its own?

Not on the 2026-27 schedule. Every ballet class is a combination class: Ballet/Tap, Ballet/Jazz, Ballet/Hip Hop or Ballet/Baton.

Are dance shoes included in tuition?

No. Dance classes have required shoes in a specific color and style for each class, and shoes are not included in tuition (rule 10).

Are recital costumes extra?

Yes. Recital costumes are an extra fee, one per style, and the studio splits costume fees into two payments (rule 21).
